Lisa/August Evans (they/them) is a published poet, playwright and director based in the SF Bay Area. Evans has been working on and with "Confronting The Ghost of Willie Lynch" since 2016. The project was initially presented as an arts installation at San Francisco's esteemed SOMArts Gallery. In 2019 "Confronting..." was fleshed out & explored via an interactive theatrical production as part of the National Queer Arts Festival.
The Lady Ms. Vagina Jenkins (they/she) is a multidisciplinary creative and award-winning filmmaker working in Oakland, CA. They were an actor and costume designer for the 2019 theatrical production and have been imagining a film interpretation of the text for the last 5 years.
Together these Black, Queer, Neuro-Brilliant artists are combining their powers of imagination and technical skill to create a new Black, Queer horror short just in time for a Halloween 2023 virtual premiere.
"Confronting The Ghost of Willie Lynch: The Haunting" will be a short interactive horror film shot in VR 360 that deeply examines the ghastly specter of white supremacy, how it shows up in our lives and the ways in which we cope.
We each have already put in more than 40 hours of labor on this project. The Living Wage Calculator estimates that a living wage for the SF Bay Area should be $26.63/hr.
While we know our production may not net us a fair living wage for our creative labor, we still intend to use funds leftover after equipment rental and buying props/costumes/set elements to compensate ourselves.
